Mostly yes, with modifications. The Li River cruise and panda visits require no hiking. The Dragon's Backbone Terraces involve 1–2 hours of uphill walking. Zhangjiajie has chairlifts and elevators so the dramatic views are accessible without serious hiking. The Glass Bridge requires basic nerve rather than fitness.
April–May is ideal: the Li River and terraces are lush and green, morning mist creates the floating mountain effect in Zhangjiajie, and Chengdu's pandas are at their most playful. October–November is the second choice: clearer skies, autumn colours in Zhangjiajie, and cooler walking temperatures.
Yes — many travellers add 3 nights in Beijing before flying to Guilin, or end in Shanghai after Chengdu. Adding Xi'an between Zhangjiajie and Chengdu is also possible (high-speed train). A 15–17 day combined nature-and-history trip is our most popular extended itinerary.
Arrive at opening time — 7:30 am. Pandas are most active in the morning during feeding (8–10 am). By midday they are usually asleep in trees or enclosures. The base gets crowded after 10 am; early arrival gives you peaceful encounters.
